History and Traditions

The Beginning
Quality Internationl School opened its doors in September of 2002 with 24 students in Nursery 1 and 2, two teachers, and first head teacher Aunty Emelda. Classes were held in rented space on the street corner opposite SONEL TKC. In 2007, enrollment had grown to 70 students and the school moved to a half-hectare site on at Etoug-ebe. The first class of 14 pupils graduated from the primary section in 2008. In 2008, the Q.I.S expanded to include the Secondary section, and in 2018-19 was home to 307 students. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2022, Q.I.S today serves over 1,000 young women and men in Nursery 1 through Upper Sixth.

Margaret Besong's dream
QIS as a center of excellence in Cameroon with a transformed team to give the students the necessary tools to succeed. Success is measured by man's ability tend. Cultivate and have dominion. Proper dominion comes from a right relationship with the one who has given you the power to dominate. The vision to create QIS was born from my relationship with God. God's road map for my life: both grandfathers servants of God in the Presbyterian church. Father instilled the fear of God for his family. Personally met Jesus in my Ecole Normal hostel after a bible study on where will you spend eternity. I Confronted my sin repented and decided to live for the of God. Now I battle from the position of victory. Jesus in me the Hope of Glory. Glory now and in Heaven with my Lord. ENS 2nd cycle settled in my heart that God wanted me in Education.

An Ambitious Mission
How she got admitted into ENS was God's plan. In ENS by the grace of God she worked hard (as usual) and after 7 months graduated and was the best of her class, the only (anglophone) student of the English and did not cheat. God rewards hard work, faithfulness and integrity. All this to His glory. After ENS she returned to CCAST Bambili as Biology teacher where she gained a lot of experience working with colleagues. In the GCE A/L practical: trip to Yaounde "Institute Pasteur” for mice etc. In 1978 she was transferred to LBE as Biology teacher and became head of department. For first A/L Biology practical she borrowed 20 microscopes from CCAST Bambili. In LBE we created an environmental club, received funding from Africa 2000 an international NGO. She attended 3 global summit for women {in Seoul South Korea, in Egypt and in Mexico) with the Minister of Basic education Mme Hamam Adama as her resource person. In 1984 she was appointed provincial inspector, GCE ACE and later Chief Examiner. In 1998 she attended a number of international conferences and had useful knowledge and connections. 1999 appointed country coordinator for the GLOBE Program. More exposure and knowledge and contacts. Global summit for Women. She was also selected by the US Embassy in Cameroon to participate in the prestigious visitors program spending 6 weeks in the USA, visiting top US environmental facilities as a diplomat in the US. She applied and was selected in the Haggai Institute training program in Maui in Hawaii, for Christians in leadership positions in government. In 2000 at the GCE Board she was appointed as member of the EEC Exams Executive Council. In 2002, after all these knowledge, skill and experience, She saw the need to apply for authorization to open a Nursery and Primary school. In 2008 the doors were opened to the secondary and finally in 2018 the doors were opened to our privileged High School students to the glory of God.
